"Renato is much better. He is practically ready to be included in the list of 23 players. We still need to decide if he will start or come in during the match," the coach of the national team said in a recent press conference.
He added: "What he does today is very important. He has been doing light exercises, but he hasn't experienced the stress of a training session. Today we will try to make him go through that. Luckily, Callens already went through it for two days and responded very well. We still have that detail with Renato. We will decide based on that, because the effort is not the same for a center-back as it is for a midfielder. One is more aerobic, the other is more explosive."
It is worth mentioning that Tapia was unable to play in the match against Chile in the third round of World Cup qualification. On that occasion, Peru ended up losing 2-0, so fans criticized the players' performance.
Christofer Gonzáles and Carlos Zambrano ruled out
After the match against the 'Roja', Christofer Gonzáles and Carlos Zambrano were injured and will not be able to participate in the match against Argentina. For now, it seems that they will be replaced by Bryan Reyna and Anderson Santamaría.
