River Plate and Boca Juniors face each other this Sunday in another edition of the Superclásico of Argentina for matchday 15 of the Liga Profesional. The match that paralyzes the entire planet promises to offer great emotions since both teams are going through a good moment. It will be the first Clásico for both coaches: Martín Demichelis on the 'millonario' bench and Jorge Almirón on the 'xeneize' bench. As expected, both have promised to field their best line-ups, which we present below.
River arrives at this match with 34 points, six points ahead of their closest competitor, San Lorenzo, but after receiving a tough blow last Tuesday in the 5-1 defeat against Fluminense, in the third matchday of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
"We have to accept the pain and everything bad that was done in the last 20 minutes. Despite being surpassed by the opponent, there were important oversights. The Superclásico is coming, with our people. We will surely dedicate a good match to them," said Martín Demichelis after the defeat at the Maracanã stadium.
And he concluded: "We will recover soon. We will lift ourselves emotionally to face Sunday well, I have no doubt," he said, although the big doubt in the home team's lineup is Emanuel Mammana, who is carrying a knee injury. If he doesn't make it to the match, his replacement will be Jonatan Maidana or Robert Rojas.
This is how Boca Juniors arrives at the Superclásico
Boca Juniors, on the other hand, 16 points behind leaders River, managed to string together two wins: last Saturday's 3-1 victory against Racing Club in the domestic tournament and this Wednesday's 0-2 victory against Colo Colo as visitors, in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
"We will arrive well, but we also consider that we will need to stay calm. Two very difficult matches were won; today's match would also be complicated and we took a step forward. Football is very even nowadays," said central defender Nicolás Figal after the victory in Santiago de Chile.
For the lineup, Jorge Almirón must decide who will replace Martín Payero, who was sent off against Racing last Saturday. The alternatives are Ezequiel Fernández or the Colombian Frank Fabra with a positional change for Valentín Barco if one or the other plays.
