The Argentine National Team wins the World Cup and reveals a surprising fact about one of its players
The Argentine National Team became world champions on December 18 by defeating France on penalties. After several days of celebration, a key player for the Albiceleste in winning their third World Cup revealed that he has not finished high school.
YOU CAN SEE: It is confirmed that the VAR requested a penalty for France when it was 2-2 and the referee disregarded it.
Who is it?
We are talking about Cristian 'Cuti' Romero, a 24-year-old defender who played all seven matches with Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. The former Atalanta and Genoa player revealed that his desire is to finish high school and be an example for his son.
"As soon as I made my debut in the First Division, I dropped out of school. I was in 4th grade and now I regret it. It's not a good example. Now that I'm 24 years old, I want to resume and finish it. It's important to me, an example for my son, and for all the kids who know me," said Romero.
Overcoming adversity
Romero also recalled the time he wanted to quit football, but he confessed that he became mentally strong to achieve his dreams. "I thought about quitting football, and what is happening to me now is unimaginable. I am enjoying the moment. Five years ago, I was in Córdoba thinking about other things," he explained.
"I thought about quitting football at a stage when I was going through a tough time. Looking back, I know that those experiences made me mentally stronger. If I have to go through it again at a different time, I will be better prepared," he concluded.
