"First of all, I apologize to my family and friends for all the pain I caused and to all of Peru. I am solely responsible for this debacle and I will never have enough time to apologize. Today, I step aside from the national team, as I don't think I have the strength to recover from this," wrote the defender.
However, minutes later, the Boca Juniors player deleted his post, so it is unknown if his decision is final.
