Abel Sánchez gave Peru its second gold medal in Rosario 2022.
In the III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022, Peru won two new medals. The national delegation won gold, silver, and two bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling thanks to Abel Sanchez, Dario Cubas, Mizael Llontop, and Aymar Janampa, respectively.
The first one defeated Argentine Marcelo Sialle in the -55 kg category final, and the second one won the silver medal in the -80 kg category.
Meanwhile, the bronze medals were won by Aymar Janampa (-65 kg) and Mizael Llontop (-110 kg).
Peru now has a total of five medals in the South American Youth Games, a competition organized by the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR) and includes Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curacao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
