The Brazil vs. Argentina match in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup will be played for sure. This Friday, FIFA sent a statement to Víctor Blanco, Secretary General of the Argentine Football Association, to provide all the details regarding the match. The South American classic was postponed on September 5th at the Arena de Sao Paulo stadium.
"We want to inform you that the match will have to be played in Brazil on September 22, 2022," says the official note from the highest soccer entity in Zurich, Switzerland, to the director of the Albiceleste.
Likewise, the institution presided over by Gianni Infantino indicated to the AFA that "therefore, FIFA has invited the CBF to communicate the confirmed details of the match (venue, stadium, and schedule) by June 22nd at the latest, in accordance with article 21, paragraph 1 of the Competition Regulations," it concludes.

Argentina's stance
According to TyC Sports and the newspaper Olé, the AFA is awaiting the resolution of the appeal it presented to FIFA to request the points from the South American classic. In addition, the Argentine entity is also attentive to a possible appeal to the TAS in order to not play the match on Brazilian soil.
Discomfort in the Albiceleste
Olé reports that the coaching staff of the national team, led by Lionel Scaloni, is unhappy with FIFA's decision. Months away from the World Cup and in the middle of preparations, playing against Brazil will mean a complete change of plans. In other words, Argentina preferred to face a European or Asian rival in the September window.
For that reason, the AFA will go all the way with the appeal it submitted to FIFA. In fact, TyC Sports has revealed that the decision will be announced during the following month. So, the notice sent from Switzerland is just the continuation of a long road regarding the classic that should have been played within the framework of the Qualifiers.
Both Brazil and Argentina were the first representatives of Conmebol to confirm their presence in Qatar 2022. After the draw, the 'Canarinha' was placed in Group G with Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon. Meanwhile, the Albiceleste was placed in Group C with Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland.
