Germany and Argentina draw 2-2 in friendly match
Serge Gnabry, at 15 minutes, and Kai Havertz, at 22, scored the goals for the European team, which dominated during the first 45 minutes. Lucas Alario (m.66), who had entered five minutes earlier, and Lucas Ocampos (m.85), who also started on the bench, scored the goals for Albiceleste.
At the beginning, both teams prioritized ball possession and therefore avoided taking risks.
The first dangerous play was for Germany when, at 13 minutes, Julian Brandt entered the area from the right after a counterattack. However, goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín deflected his shot with his foot.
In the following play, Gnabry received a pass from the right and got rid of his marks with control, and then finished with quality against the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 at 15 minutes.
Shortly after, at 22, Argentina lost the ball in defense and Germany scored 2-0 with an effective counterattack; Gnabry assisted Havertz, who only had to push the ball into the net.
From then on, the match became end-to-end and there was a shot on the post for each side before halftime.
Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni made two changes to the lineup at halftime.
At 54 minutes, Emre Can had a one-on-one with Marchesín, who prevented the goal with a great save.
But at 66, Alario, who had entered five minutes earlier, made it 2-1 with a header after a cross from the left by Marcos Acuña, who also started the match on the bench.
From then on, Argentina pressed high and came close to scoring several times.
At 85, Alario, after a great individual play, assisted Ocampos, who scored the final 2-2.
Argentina did not have Messi, due to suspension, nor players from Boca Juniors and River Plate, involved in the Copa Libertadores semifinals.
Germany, on the other hand, also had many absences, the most notable being Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
Albiceleste will face Ecuador this Sunday in Spain, in a friendly match that will be played at the Manuel Martínez Valero Stadium in Elche.
Germany, on the other hand, will play Estonia on Sunday for the Eurocup qualification.
