One of the most anticipated matches of the second round of the Qatar 2022 World Cup was the one between Spain and Germany in Group E. Not only because both teams are strong, but also because of what they were playing for: one for their stay and the other for their qualification.
However, this match, like many others, was not going to be broadcast live on the open signal of Latina TV. The television station will only broadcast a total of 20 live matches, while other matches will be shown on a delayed basis.
One of the matches that would not be seen on channel 2 was the game between the Red Fury and the Germans, as instead, the movie Kung-Fu Panda would be shown. This generated several criticisms, even from Peruvian national team player Marcos López.
The right-back used his social media to ironically criticize the channel, he posted a video of his TV tuning into the channel and wrote: “Is Latina the World Cup channel?” and then uploaded another post from his tablet with the match broadcast: “Oh well”, he concluded.
How many matches will Latina TV broadcast during Qatar 2022?
Of the 48 matches that the World Cup tournament will have in the group stage, channel 2 will only broadcast 20 live matches. In addition, it will broadcast the 12 matches corresponding to the knockout phase of the tournament; in other words, Latina will broadcast a total of 32 matches live on free-to-air television.
