World Champion Alejandro 'Papu' Gómez could be suspended for two years for doping

According to the Spanish outlet 'Relevo', the world champion in Qatar 2022, Alejandro 'Papu' Gómez, could be suspended for two years after testing positive for doping in November 2022, prior to the start of the World Cup.

The test was conducted during a training session with his former team, Sevilla, indicating that he may have consumed a banned substance.

The Argentine player mentioned that prior to the start of Qatar 2022, he took medicine prescribed by one of his children due to health issues, but he did not consult with the medical staff of the Spanish team.

On the other hand, it was revealed that Sevilla and 'Papu' Gómez were aware of the results months ago, prompting the European team to terminate his contract, which was set to expire in June 2024.
