Jake Paul and older brother Logan will fight each other in a 'massive' event at some point in the future, according to MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian.
While Jake is set to take on Mike Perry as a late replacement for his rescheduled bout with Mike Tyson, the promoter has revealed that a showdown between him and Logan could have easily come to fruition this Saturday (July 20) instead. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Bidarian admitted that the idea of an interfamily bout between the two brothers was floated to Netflix after Tyson was pulled through medical concerns.
Speaking about trying to make a Logan and Jake fight work, Bidarian explained on Wednesday: "We said to Netflix, we could get the two of them to agree to do it on July 20th on Netflix. I think Netflix saw it as a phenomenal, massive event, with not enough run-up [time] to do it the right way."
Instead of pushing for a bout between the two brothers, Netflix would instead opt to reserve their initial scheduled bout between Jake and Tyson, rescheduling for November 15. Eager to still compete this month, Jake instead worked a deal with DAZN to fight 14-8 UFC and BKFC star Perry come July 20.
And while we could have seen Jake and Logan throw down in a mega-fight for the ages this weekend, Bidarian is confident that the fight will definitely take place at some point down the line. He added: "They have the utmost love for each other, but there is a competitive nature between them, absolutely. This is an older brother, younger brother dynamic always, right? And I do believe you’ll see that fight at some point. And there is not one ounce of wrestling in it. It is 100 percent real."
Jake Paul has accrued a coveted 9-1 boxing record since turning pro back in 2020 - beating former UFC stars like Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley twice. His only loss came to the hands of Tommy Fury - brother of Tyson Fury - in February last year via split decision.
Perry, on the other hand, is currently riding a 5-0 win streak with bare-knuckle promotion BKFC, racking up wins over the likes of Eddie Alvarez and Luke Rockhold. He has also been involved in some of the bloodiest battles in UFC history, with wins over Paul Felder, Mickey Gall, Alex Reyes and Jake Ellenberger.
Logan, meanwhile, has had a far less active boxing career, with just two pro bouts to his name over the years. He made his pro debut against YouTube star KSI in 2018, losing via split decision, before taking on Dillon Danis in October 2023 - where he would achieve a DQ victory after frustrating the Bellator star over the course of six rounds.
Danis would attempt to get Paul in a guillotine before rushing the 29-year-old after the final bell had rang, leading to an all-out ring invasion as officials and cornermen tried to get the situation under control. Logan's most notable bout, however, would come in the form of a 2021 exhibition with 50-0 Floyd Mayweather Jr - going the distance with the boxing GOAT over eight rounds while holding his own.
