World Cup Note

The Women's World Cup is about to come to an end and these days there are seminars and symposiums on women's football. From today until Sunday, the 6th Women's Football Symposium will take place in Vancouver, where 600 representatives of 209 member federations will discuss the future of women in this sport and what is needed to take it to the highest level.

Villar has sent Matilde García, the only woman on his Board of Directors, to represent the Spanish Football Federation. FIFA, in its eagerness to promote the presence of women in football, demanded that one of the two representatives per federation attending the symposium (the other being a director) be a woman. "It is interesting to know where women's football stands in the world and Villar sends Matilde García to the FIFA Women's Football Symposium in Canada where she has to be in Spain," said Matilde García. Two other Spaniards will be at the symposium, Patricia González, coach of Azerbaijan, and Vero Boquete, invited by FIFA. Patricia González and Marta Tejedor, the Spanish coach of Peru, have previously attended the FIFA women's football instructor seminar, in which Quereda was not present, despite being one of them.
