As we reported here on SUPER STRUGGLES, WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes has requested his release from WWE as of Saturday, May 21, 2016. Adding to this surprising move, there is a new and important piece of information: both he and his brother Goldust have apparently left the tapings of the latest WWE SmackDown show.
This was revealed by journalist Mike Johnson of the website PWInsider.com, who disclosed that apparently, Goldust and Cody Rhodes made the decision to go home on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, moments before the tapings of SmackDown that aired on Thursday, May 19.
However, journalist Johnson points out that for now, he does not have precise details on why the sons of legendary Dusty Rhodes went home, but this may have been linked as a reason why Stardust requested to be released from his contract, although at the moment, it is unknown if WWE has given an official response to Cody Rhodes' request.
Unlike Stardust, Goldust was present last night, May 21, at a live event (WWE Live!) that the company held in Reading, Pennsylvania. There, he defeated Tyler Breeze and when Fandango attacked him, R-Truth came to his aid. Neither of them was present on May 20 in Utica, New York.
Regarding Cody's situation, his beautiful wife Brandi, known as Eden in WWE, stated via Twitter:
Could not be any prouder or more supportive. 💛
