Fighter Soo Hwan Hong was born on May 26, 1950 in Seoul, South Korea and as a professional he obtained a record of 41 wins with 14 knockouts, 5 losses and 4 draws becoming one of the boxing icons of his country.
With a brilliant career, he was the OPBF bantamweight champion and the WBC bantamweight and super bantamweight champion.
Soo Hwan had memorable fights against South African Arnold Taylor, twice against tough Mexican Alfonso Zamora, against Panamanian Héctor Carrasquilla, Japanese Yu Kasahara, Colombian Ricardo Cardona, among others.
It should be noted that Soo Hwan Hong has always been on top and off the ring an example, leading a quiet life dedicated to boxing and his family.
He currently serves as the president of the Korean Boxing Commission (KBC), and has worked tirelessly to promote the sport and support young prospects in his country.
Mr. Hong has stated that he will continue to fight for South Korea to become once again a world boxing power, just like when he was champion.
In recent days, Soo Hwan met with the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, discussing attractive projects that will surely put Korean fighters back on the map.
