Referee Injured in Brawl Between Roman Reigns and Triple H on Raw
Being a WWE superstar is a risky job, but being in the ring with the superstars is also risky, as referee Dan Engler found out when he was injured in a backstage brawl between Roman Reigns and Triple H on March 14th on Monday Night Raw.
With Reigns chasing the WWE World Champion throughout the arena, Triple H began throwing objects in a desperate attempt to defend himself against his furious challenger. One of the objects thrown was a box of production equipment, which hit Engler's left leg, causing him to immediately limp off.
WWE released a video on their YouTube channel showing the consequences of Engler's injury. He had to be attended to by medical staff and received 13 stitches to close his knee wound, many more than the six staples needed to close Triple H's head.
Dan Engler has been a part of WWE's referee team since 2013, previously working for TNA, NWA, and OVW under the name Rudy Charles. On the night of his injury, he had been officiating the match between Ryback and Sin Cara.
