Chilean National Team in Copa America
In just over two weeks, the Chilean National Team coached by Jorge Sampaoli has played four intense matches in the Copa America and the physical toll is starting to show on the players.
For this reason, Sampaoli and his coaching staff have decided to reduce the workload, especially considering how well the team has been performing on the field.
Therefore, this Saturday, which initially planned for two training sessions, the Chilean National Team will only have one session. The goal is to avoid overexertion on the players and have them in optimal condition for the semifinal match this Monday against Peru.
With that match in mind and awaiting confirmation on whether Gonzalo Jara will be punished for his incident with Edinson Cavani, the coach is already considering alternatives to replace him.
There, Miiko Albornoz is the frontrunner for a starting position. The player is familiar with the position and his versatility opens the door for him to start in the next match.
Nevertheless, the coach has also been testing Jara as a starter and until a punishment is confirmed, he will continue practicing with the Mainz defender.
Further back, Francisco Silva and José Rojas are potential replacements for Jara, which will be resolved in the coming days according to the decision of CONMEBOL.
