Shingo Takagi is keen on fighting his way back to the main event of Wrestle Kingdom, after falling to Kazuchika Okada on January 4th. Tonight, he enters the field of the G1 Climax once again, and things kick off against Juice Robinson.

Only one prior singles match has come between these two, in the 2019 G1 Climax – when Robinson got the win. Shingo will have a chance to redeem this loss, and kick off this tournament with a win. Since his last time in the G1, Robinson has turned heel and become a member of BULLET CLUB – a major change in his career.

Juice Robinson Is ROCK HARD To Start The G1 Climax

Robinson would attack from behind to start this match. Shingo was taken to the floor, and whipped hard into the barricade. Robinson would be run down with a shoulder tackle. Back in the ring, Shingo would run him down a second time, before hitting one of his perfect vertical suplexes.

Shingo would hit some elbow drops, before Robinson rolled away from the senton – but Shingo stopped himself. Robinson went to the apron, and would be able to throw Shingo down to the floor. He’d keep the beating coming in the ring, nailing a big backdrop before a jumping senton.

He’d look to set up Pulp Friction, but Shingo shoved him off – only to take the leg lariat as he set up the Yukon Lariat. Robinson would hit some jabs, before being planted on his head with a backdrop driver. Shingo would follow up with the senton, before mocking the old taunt of Robinson and hitting some jabs before a fakeout into the DDT.

Slaying The Dragon

Shingo would call for the brainbuster, but Robinson shifted his weight… only to instead take a neckbreaker. Robinson would fight back with the shotgun dropkick, before a familar move in the cannonball. He’d take Shingo up top, and took him down hard with the superplex before looking for Rock Slide.

Shingo blocked, only to miss the lariat and take the Full Nelson bomb for a two count. Leg Lariat was caught, but Shingo had his eyes raked before the Double Knee Gutbuster. Pulp Friction was set, but he’d be dropped with Noshigami.

A roll up with the tights of Shingo in hand would follow, but the referee saw this cheat – and refused to count. The referee was shoved, but wasn’t going to throw out a G1 match like that. Shingo would follow up with a lariat, and Robinson rolled to the apron and would go for a spear – but was caught with the GTR.

Pumping Bomber would land soon after, but Robinson was able to kick out. Robinson nailed the Left Hand of God, before Pulp Friction – but a slow cover meant just a two count. They’d exchange lariats, before Shingo looked for Last of the Dragon. Robinson wiggled free and hit the left hand again, before Pulp Friction for a second time – getting the win.

After the bell, he’d have a chance to address the crowd – and he said everyone will fall. Ospreay will learn who the true IWGP United States Champion is. And as for the fans? They can f*ck off.
