A discussion between Sasha Banks and Naomi with the management of WWE has led to chaos in the company and fan debate on social media.
Sasha Banks and Naomi, current tag team champions, were scheduled to headline RAW in a match that also involved Doudrop, Nikki ASH, Asuka, and Becky Lynch. The winner would become the challenger for champion Bianca Belair at Hell in a Cell 2022.
However, as the minutes went by, Pro Wrestling Insider reported that the tag team champions left the Norfolk Scope Arena, the sports venue where the show was taking place, in the middle of the show after a heated argument with executives. As a result, the main match was reduced to Becky Lynch vs. Asuka, with Asuka winning.
Officially, there was no statement until the host Corey Graves said on live television, "Sasha Banks and Naomi unprofessionally left the arena."
What happened to Sasha and Naomi with WWE executives?
There are different versions of what happened this Monday in WWE, but they all have one thing in common: both Sasha Banks and Naomi disagree with the plans they have for them as champions.
WWE officially shared their statement stating that both wrestlers "entered John Laurinaitis' office with their suitcases. They placed their belts and left."
"They said they didn't feel respected enough as WWE Tag Team Champions and felt uncomfortable with two of their opponents and sharing the ring with them, even though they had already had one-on-one matches in the past that ended without any consequences," the message states. "WWE expects its Superstars to always fulfill the requirements of their contracts. We regret not being able to present tonight's main event as initially announced."
The versions are plentiful. There was talk of a supposed rivalry between the champions after this match, with Naomi winning and pinning Banks herself. Later, it was denied that this was the problem, now pointing out that Naomi was going to be easily defeated in the title defense, diminishing the merit of her championships.
Fightful also states that Sasha Banks officially complained about the match's development to Vince McMahon, who understood the issue and requested a change. However, the match's producers ended up dismissing new ideas and causing more grievances for the wrestlers.
