In an incredible feat, Kalisto defeated Alberto del Río with his "Salida del Sol" to become the new United States Champion at WWE Royal Rumble 2016.
For most of the match, Alberto del Río dominated the small Kalisto, but it was small mistakes from El Patrón that allowed the masked man to become champion for the second time and confirm that a new Latino idol has been born.
There were some minor mistakes in the match, mainly due to the strong size difference between the two gladiators. However, the Mexican style and elegance of the now former champion could still be seen.
