This Historic Boxing Event Will Take Place in Torrelavega
The event, organized by Martinez's promoter, will be held during the festivities of the Virgin Grande of Torrelavega and will be a historic moment for the Cantabrian city, one of the capitals of European boxing in recent times thanks to local idol Sergio Garcia.
In the case of "Maravilla" Martinez, 46, he will step into the ring again after more than six years of inactivity, following his last fight in June 2014, in which he was defeated by Miguel Angel Cotto at Madison Square Garden in New York and lost the world middleweight title.
In addition, Martinez will return to a Spanish ring after thirteen years away from the Iberian circuit, with a scheduled match against an opponent to be announced at a later date, for ten rounds in the middleweight category, the division in which he achieved his most memorable international successes.
Four fights have already been confirmed for the Torrelavega event, and in addition to "Maravilla" Martinez and Sergio Garcia, former world champion Kiko Martinez and young Basque boxer Jon Fernandez will also be present.
