Within the sports environment, the wrestling company WWE is one of the few that continues with its regular programming despite the coronavirus. Although without an audience, Vince McMahon's company continues in the ring recording the episodes of its weekly shows and events at the Performance Center, although this week will be different: it will be live.
WWE has released a statement through ESPN (who will also broadcast their shows) mentioning that it is vital that, in this adverse context, they seek to entertain people.
"We believe that now more than ever it is important to provide entertainment to people in these difficult times. We are producing content in an enclosed location, with only essential staff present, following appropriate guidelines, while taking additional precautions to ensure the health and well-being of our talent and staff. As a brand that has been woven into the fabric of society, WWE and its superstars bring families together and provide a sense of hope, determination, and perseverance", mentions the message.
With this in mind, RAW (Monday) and SmackDown (Friday) will be held live this week from the Performance Center and NXT (Wednesday) will be held at the Full Sail University in Florida. However, these episodes were also previously recorded in case of emergencies, images that are kept in reserve in case something changes in the scenario.
Recently, it was confirmed that an employee of the company had tested positive for COVID-19, but WWE stated that the employee had no contact with anyone and that, after quarantine, they have recovered.
