Eric Abidal would be the technical secretary of Barcelona if Joan Laporta wins the club's presidential elections. The former French footballer participated in Laporta's presentation and gave hints about his contribution in that position: "It is an honor to be by Laporta's side. I am very excited. I see myself capable of taking on this responsibility."
"Barça is more than a club and I wanted to continue working linked to this. I always thought about what I wanted to do. I know Laporta very well and we trust each other a lot. You always have to say what you think and we will not hide anything. It all starts small to look for the new Messis, Iniestas, Xavis... I hope all the members share with me the excitement for this project," added Abidal, who left the club after the 2012/13 season.
"It was the end of my contract. I understood that after the cancer I might not be 100%. It wasn't the path I wanted, but okay. Tito wanted me to stay, but he didn't have the final say," he confessed about his departure after retiring as a player at Olympiacos.
