In a well-structured match at Extreme Rules 2019, AJ Styles defeated Ricochet with the help of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows and became the new United States champion of WWE.
Bringing out all their personal arsenal, both contenders showed great moments in the match. The crowd, although subdued at first, ended up responding in the right way and was divided in sympathy.
After a great twist, Ricochet was about to retain his championship, but Styles' teammates helped their leader put his leg under the ropes to stop the count of 3.
Finally, AJ Styles performed his final move on Ricochet from the third rope to win the championship.
