Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa Face Off After 10 Months of Rivalry
It is highly unusual in WWE for a rivalry to last for months before a match, let alone nearly a year. But due to various circumstances, that is exactly what has happened with Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, who have still not faced each other in the ring 10 months after the dramatic breakup of #DIY.
After NXT TakeOver: Chicago, Ciampa and Gargano were absent from the screens. The Sicilian was sidelined due to the injury that triggered his brutal change in attitude, and the American was attacked. Months passed, and while Ciampa was recovering, Gargano became one of the idols of NXT, thanks in part to his instant classic against Andrade "Cien" Almas.
But now, as the hour approaches for the former teammates, tension is higher than ever. This was evident in the latest edition of the yellow show, when Johnny Wrestling stormed Full Sail University to attack his former best friend. But that's not all, as WWE has released a video showing Gargano chasing Ciampa outside the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
The video begins with Heavy Machinery, the comedic and powerful duo of Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic, who seem to be documenting their daily lives when they encounter Gargano in the parking lot. Johnny waits for Ciampa to arrive at the Performance Center and pursues him until he manages to escape in his car, leaving the frustrated cruiserweight behind once again.
There are two weeks left until NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, the yellow brand's contribution to WrestleMania 34 weekend, and although nothing has been confirmed on television, the audience expects Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to finally face each other in a match that has been anticipated for almost a year.
