The undefeated Cubans have fallen like flies. The most recent one? Rances Barthelemy, who lost to Kiryl Relikh.
The prize to win would be the super lightweight belt from the World Boxing Association.
Kiryl Relikh had already figured out Rances Barthelemy from their first encounter. So he let the Cuban act first.
Barthelemy was very elusive, he threw a punch and backed away, with his guard up.
He jumped every time he connected (or not) with Relikh.
However, the Belarusian was patient, he let Barthelemy feel comfortable in the ring and then he started to attack.
First, he began by closing the distance.
Barthelemy was jumping back with several jumps, which Relikh knew how to shrink in order to catch him, corner him, and then hit him.
Let's just say that they weren't fierce or brutal exchanges, but they were clear enough to give Relikh the opportunity to attack.
The Belarusian was alert to not be surprised, so he attacked instantly to reach with his combinations and score on the scorecards.
The fight became difficult for Barthelemy because he kept his guard up. Tight and he let everything in and didn't let go of anything.
That's how Relikh got the upper hand.
Barthelemy didn't know how to get rid of Relikh, he didn't know how to defend or attack properly to get the desired result.
Relikh grew in the fight, he learned from his mistakes in the previous match and so he was able to get the result against the Cuban.
Kiryl Relikh is now the new super lightweight champion of the World Boxing Association and avenged his defeat against Barthelemy.
Rances Barthelemy must rethink the situation in order to have a boxing style that brings him better results and makes him a world champion again.
