Footballer Fayçal Fajr undergoes medical examination before joining Deportivo
The Franco-Moroccan footballer Fayçal Fajr, who has undergone a medical examination prior to his signing with Deportivo, stated that he has known the club since its best period in the late 1990s. He added that anyone who does not know the team from Coruña, he said, "does not know football."
"I have known the club for years. If someone does not know about Deportivo, they do not know about football. I have known Deportivo for many years, from the 2000s until now," he told journalists at HM Modelo Hospital in A Coruña.
Fayçal confirmed that he is joining Deportivo on loan from Elche this season, but with two more years remaining on his contract in case Elche does not return to Liga BBVA in 2016.
"I am very excited, very happy to be here, I have been waiting for a long time to be at Deportivo, to play for this team. I am eager to train with the team and achieve great things this year," he stated.
About his playing style, although he said he prefers to "speak on the field rather than off", he mentioned that he can "contribute a lot technically, with the ball" and added that he likes to "run from beginning to end, apply pressure up front, and also help defensively."
Fayçal explained that he enjoys "providing assists rather than scoring goals" and, regarding his physical condition, he assured that he is "ready to play now."
The offensive midfielder believed that Deportivo has a "good team" this season and, although he asked for "time for the new players," he expressed confidence in improving the performance from last season, in which the team narrowly avoided relegation on the last day.
"What happened last year is normal because the team had just been promoted. This year, we have to address the negatives from last year and with the squad we have, with the new signings and those who are still on the team, we can improve upon last year," he concluded.
