During the McGregor vs. Mayweather promotion, the Irishman launched many criticisms at Showtime, mainly after they cut off his microphone in the first press conference. This was the message he launched afterwards.
“F*** Showtime. Little weasels. Did you cut off the champion's microphone? You're trying to mess with me. There's nothing you can do to disturb me.”
Although later the network assured that they never intentionally cut off the microphone.
“At no time did Showtime or any production company intentionally cut off anyone's microphone during the Tuesday event in Los Angeles. The main purpose of this tour is to let the stars interact with the fans. Cutting off the microphones would go against our goal of letting their charismatic personalities take the stage.”
Now Dana White speaks about the production company, stating that they will no longer work with them from now on.
“I don't care what Showtime says. McGregor vs. Mayweather is the biggest fight in history. It made 6.7 million in purchases. If the service hadn't gone down, they would have reached 7 million. It was the biggest event in history. It was the best event in history with only one boxer. I still question their numbers. The press release they made. I didn't trust them and now I despise them. I will never work with Showtime again.”
Regarding boxing, the President of UFC stated that they are interested in continuing.
“I just know that we are the best at what we do, and I think we could be the best at boxing too. Why not give it a try? We think about the future. Just look at our UFC Performance Institute, a state-of-the-art facility to help athletes become better. We have a restaurant where they can eat for free. We also have a physical therapy center that is also free for fighters. And I also think we do our events better than them. I believe that everything that is done in this business we can do better, and we have health insurance for our athletes."
