Many of the sights of the WWE Universe are already set on Royal Rumble, the next big event after Survivor Series. Both because we definitively know that Finn Balor will not be Brock Lesnar's opponent, and because there is a possibility that John Cena will take his place; ignoring the event's popularity and its status as the beginning of the road to WrestleMania.
Will John Cena face Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble?
But before that, WWE Clash of Champions (2017) is the last PPV of the year, and various media outlets are already reporting the rumored card for it. At first, it does not leave much room for surprises, and it follows the logical path of the events already pointed out since this week's edition of SmackDown Live. Here is the list of matches:
- AJ Styles (c) vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship
- The Usos (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship
- Baron Corbin (c) vs. Bobby Roode for the United States Championship
- Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
- The New Day vs. Aiden English and Rusev
- Charlotte, Natalya and Naomi vs. Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan
Of the six, only the first one is confirmed, while several have already set the stage, except for the fifth. Orton will face Owens next Tuesday, so that would be the trigger for the fourth match, leaving aside for now the angle of the Canadians with Shane McMahon. Meanwhile, the SmackDown Women's Championship would not be defended, with a match for the division in the style of Survivor Series.
Clash of Champions will take place on December 17th from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. According to the list of WWE's major events for 2018 that was leaked yesterday, SmackDown will not have another exclusive event until March, with Fastlane.
