After Frankie Edgar was out of the contention for the 155-pound title against Max Holloway, which will take place on December 2nd in Detroit, Michigan, the UFC decided that José Aldo will be the new contender for the belt.
There were several names of possible contenders, however, most of them had previously committed engagements with the promoter, so the promoter itself decided that the opportunity is for the Brazilian, who has already been a champion of the division and lost the title against Conor McGregor.
Aldo was preparing for a rematch against Ricardo Lamas on December 16th in Winnipeg, Canada, but now his opponent will be someone else, and sooner.
