In SUPER LUCHAS we echoed a collective lawsuit filed by sixty former wrestlers against WWE, including the deceased Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Road Warrior Animal, Marty Jannetty, Paul Orndorff, among others.
WWE sued by Jimmy Snuka, Road Warrior Animal, and 51 wrestlers
Jimmy Snuka and Mr. Fuji allegedly were diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after their deaths, according to new documents filed on behalf of over sixty former WWE wrestlers.
All is part of the ongoing legal battle between the group of wrestlers and WWE, in which they claim the company concealed the long-term effects of their brain damage.
A representative of Mr. Fuji's family claims that in his final years he was just "a shadow of his former self" due to dementia. Years later, upon learning that other athletes had CTE, the former manager's family donated his brain to a pathologist and also discovered CTE. They also claim the report stated it was due to his "history of head blows."
According to reporter Chris Harrington, who has been reviewing the documents, the filing indicates that Paul Orndorff was recently diagnosed with dementia, is clinically depressed, and exhibits paranoia. The documents also claim that Marty Jannetty has an "inability to think clearly" and occasional blackout episodes of thirty minutes.
A representative of WWE released a statement to The Boston Globe questioning the integrity of the attorney handling the case, "Kyros has repeatedly been reprimanded by the court for presenting false and misleading information, and no medical report was included in this filing. We will review the medical reports when they become available to us and respond appropriately through the judicial system."
