Undoubtedly, the return to the WWE ring of Kurt Angle has been one of the wrestling events of 2017, and a true news bomb because of the sudden way it happened. A creative decision that ruined a truly outstanding comeback for the wrestler, with a story and settings more suited, as rumored last summer.
However, several talents will have applauded the move, as they will be able to tell their children that they shared the ring with Angle that night at WWE TLC. Cesaro is one of them, who as always did an impeccable job and made the former Olympic look almost like his best times. The Swiss granted an interview to The Baltimore Sun, a media outlet in the city where Raw is taking place tonight, and a large part of his conversation revolved around the last Raw pay-per-view. This is how Cesaro described his match there:
"It was crazy. That's the only word I can use to sum it up. Starting with Kurt Angle being part of The Shield, Kurt Angle returning to a WWE ring, being in the same ring as Kurt Angle. And also with chairs, tables, ladders... garbage trucks. You name it."
About his reaction upon learning that Angle would be one of his opponents:
"Selfishly, I was very happy. I was a big fan of Kurt Angle when I was growing up. In fact, his book is one of the great reasons why I work so hard. I thought I worked pretty hard when I was younger, and then I read his book and realized that I needed to step up, at least a little. I knew that I probably couldn't be at his level, but I was going to give it my all. He has had a great influence on me and it was pretty cool to be in the ring with him on his return to WWE."
Of course, Cesaro responded affirmatively to the idea of being able to have a singles match with the former WWF Champion:
"100%. I would love to have a 1 vs. 1 against him. That's a dream match for many people, including myself."
The interview continues with more topics, such as the origin of the slogan of his team with Sheamus, or his memories of Baltimore. It can be read in full here.
