Mexican players retain three gold medals in Pan American racquetball
Mexican players Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas managed to secure three gold medals for their country in Pan American women's racquetball by completing their victories with a team win at the Toronto Games.
The Mexican players defeated American players Michelle Key and Rhonda Rajsich with a score of 2-0, repeating their triple win from Guadalajara 2011, where Mexico, led by Longoria, also won gold in the singles, doubles, and team categories.
Salas started with a victory of 15-3 and 15-9 against Key in the first match of the day.
Later, Longoria, the number one player in the world, defeated Rajsich, who is ranked second, by 15-6 and a hard-fought 15-12. When the Mexican player was leading 7-5 in the second set, she received a strong hit that forced her to interrupt the game for a few minutes.
Longoria, who has been at the top of the rankings for six seasons, had previously won the individual and doubles finals in partnership with Salas.
