Colo Colo makes its debut in the Opening Tournament
After a long wait, this Saturday Colo Colo will play its first match in the Opening Tournament against Unión Española at Santa Laura. During the previous phase, which included several matches in the Copa Chile, offensive midfielder Martín Rodríguez, who came from Huachipato, had good performances and this has made him feel that he is starting to win the affection of the fans.
"It's great that people recognize me or ask me for a photo or an autograph. I feel very supported by the Colocolo people, they congratulate me on social media. I would really like to become a reference for the club," said Rodríguez.
"I am very calm, working day by day. I have been doing things well. I have adapted well to my teammates. I'm looking forward to the match day and see who will play," he added.
Relationship with the team: "My teammates have shown me a lot of confidence. I try to give it back on the field and try to follow the team's game plan."
Interaction with Suazo and Paredes: "I find it easy to play with them because they are exceptionally good. They adapt very well to me and we have to keep working with the same commitment."
Training method by Sierra: "I'm struck by the emphasis on ball possession. I also appreciate the intensity to face the matches. There are many experienced players who transmit that to us, which is beautiful. It gives us peace of mind when playing."
Match against Unión Española: "Every match is different. Unión Española tries to play football. More than focusing on the opponent, I focus on my team. We arrive in good shape and that makes me feel calm."
Support from the fans: "Everyone likes how we are playing. We have to continue with the same attitude and style of play."
Derbies without away fans: "I don't know if it's the most appropriate. If that decision was made, it's for a reason. Our job is to perform on match day, but it's beautiful to have the fans cheering from outside."
