Louis van Gaal continues to keep the David de Gea issue on the agenda. The goalkeeper played no role in United’s first two friendlies as part of their US tour against Club América and yesterday’s game against San José Earthquakes (with a 1-0 and 3-1 victory in each respective game), but could play against the Catalan team next Saturday.
De Gea was involved in the warm up against the MLS side yesterday showing no signs of his apparent injury and after the match, coach, Van Gaal commented: “I am hoping that De Gea can play in the Barcelona game. He didn’t play against San José as he is still not fully recovered from his injury. Neither dd Lindegaard play. I didn’t feel it was prudent to run the risk. I feel De Gea will play against Barça however”.
Van Gaal avoided any questions relating to a potential departure for Di María to París Saint Germain: “I can’t answer that; you can ask all you want. When I have anything to say on the subject, I’ll do so”.
