Saying goodbye in football is always difficult, especially if a player is part of a club's history and lives on in the memories of the fans. That is the case of David de Gea, who announced on Saturday that he will leave Manchester United after not renewing his contract with the English club. The 32-year-old Spanish goalkeeper is leaving Old Trafford after twelve years, during which he won a Premier League, two League Cups, an FA Cup, and a Europa League, in addition to being honored three times with the Matt Busby Award, which recognizes the best player of the 'Red Devils' in the season.
Illescas' contract expired last June 30th, and despite having been in conversations for months to renew it, he has not reached an agreement with the club, which asked for a considerable reduction in his salary.
