Styles defeats Owens and becomes the new US Champion
What was supposed to be a title match at Battleground between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens for the United States Championship ended up happening at a WWE live event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The 'Phenomenal' one became the new champion after defeating 'KO' with a 'Superman punch'. This is Styles' second title in WWE, having previously held the SmackDown Championship.

"I earned this opportunity in the battle of SmackDown. I saw the moment to do it in a place like Madison Square Garden. Now, I truly feel like a champion, I am the new face of America," said Styles.
It is worth mentioning that this opens up possibilities regarding Owens' rematch clause. Will he invoke it on the next SmackDown show or wait until Battleground on July 23rd?
