Chilean Football Takes Measures to Eradicate Violence
Seven tough measures were announced today by the president of ANFP, Sergio Jadue, with the aim of eradicating the violence that has been occurring in football.
One of them, the most important, has to do with the creation of a registry of fans that each club must have before selling tickets to their supporters.
"We will make every effort to eradicate violence, in order to bring families back to the stadiums. We don't want criminals in the stadiums anymore. We will pursue them and file complaints. Violence affects the entire country," Jadue responded, before listing the measures.
These are the announced points:
1. Create a national registry of fans which will take effect in Class A matches of the Apertura and Clausura 2015 and 2016. Only those who are part of that registry will be able to purchase tickets, which must be completed in each club, at their headquarters or online. It will include a photo of the person.
2. Urgently convene a working group that includes football, the police, and the government.
3. Request that the government allows the police to enter the stadiums again. The constitution gives them facilities to ensure public safety. Security guards are only complementary.
4. Modify the tournament and Copa Chile regulations so that teams can play without visiting fans as an extraordinary measure.
5. Continue supporting clubs in the fight against these antisocial individuals so that they take all necessary measures.
6. Invest in an educational campaign in the media to prevent acts of violence.
7. To transfer the experience of the Copa America, we decided to appoint René Rosas (manager of said competition) in charge of the competition management of ANFP to participate in other functions: in preventive security meetings, as well as in meetings with the Intendencia and Gobernaciones. In addition to overseeing the measures adopted by the local club.
