Kevin De Bruyne, one of the stars of Manchester City, has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss the matches against Everton on Sunday in the Premier League and against PSG on Wednesday in the Champions League, his coach Pep Guardiola said on Friday.

"Two days ago, Kevin De Bruyne told me that he had tested positive. He will be isolated for 10 days," said the coach of Manchester City in a press conference about the Belgian midfielder.

Furthermore, De Bruyne's coach stated that "forget about being in shape, the most important thing is for him to recover well. The human being is more important than anything else."

The former Chelsea player had scored a goal in Belgium's 1-1 draw against Wales in Cardiff this week and also played in his country's victory over Estonia, which secured their team's qualification for the upcoming World Cup.

Pep Guardiola added that the 30-year-old attacking midfielder is vaccinated and that he was more concerned about avoiding a major outbreak than the absence of their star player.

"Right now, people are dying in this pandemic. Being vaccinated, he is more protected and usually the symptoms will be milder," he continued.

He also stated that Kevin De Bruyne "will return as soon as possible. There is no concern about the pace or what we will lose. We have to support him."

The 'Citizens' team is currently in second place in the Premier League standings with 23 points, just three points behind leaders Chelsea.
