Matías Almeyda's Father Passes Away Due to COVID-19 Complications
After several days hospitalized at Hospital Pintos in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Óscar Almeyda, father of San Jose Earthquakes coach Matías Almeyda, passed away on Tuesday due to COVID-19 complications.
The sad news was confirmed by Silvia Calcagno, mother of the Argentine coach, who is also hospitalized with coronavirus.
"While I am in the hospital bed recovering from COVID, my husband Óscar Almeyda died right next to me. A lifetime together and today I cannot say goodbye as I would like, but God decides things. What can I say? I am devastated, I would love to be with my entire family, but I can't. Óscar, you will always be in my heart. I loved you and will love you until the day we meet again, love of my life," she posted on her Facebook account.
Óscar Almeyda had an important career as a coach in the lower divisions of Argentina and in the First Division. He managed clubs such as Vélez Sarsfield and Boca Juniors.
