Ignacio Ambriz, the coach who just a couple of weeks ago conquered the Mexican soccer title with León, was hospitalized after contracting COVID-19 and developing pneumonia, the club reported.
"Our coach is stable and under medical observation, evolving favorably," the central Mexican team reported in a brief statement on its official Twitter account.

Just on December 13, León defeated Pumas 2-0 in the second leg of the final to be crowned as the Apertura tournament champions. The León team collected 40 points in the regular season, three less than the record in short tournaments.
Ambriz, 55, had never won a Mexican league title as a coach. On the other hand, he was crowned twice with Necaxa during his playing career.
The midfielder was captain of the Mexican national team at the 1994 World Cup in the United States. As a coach, he has managed Puebla, San Luis, Guadalajara, Querétaro, América, and Necaxa. He took over León in 2018. (D)
