In the 2017 Dakar Rally, which connected Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina, came to an end on Saturday and Nicolás Fuchs crowned a memorable performance in his first participation. The Peruvian, who competes with Argentine navigator Fernando Mussano, finished in 12th place overall.
"You can't believe it at the moment, there's no way to express it. I just turned on my phone and the number of congratulatory messages is incredible," said 'Nico'. "I want to thank the Wevers team, who invited me. We came very humbly, we don't have the infrastructure that official teams have, but we completed a complete, clean, and trouble-free Dakar, which is the most important thing," he added.
In another part, he remarked that it is too early to determine if he will participate in the 2018 Dakar, but he would like Peru to return. "All drivers hope that the Peruvian desert will return. If they announce it, we could be encouraged to participate. Right now, I want to think about the World Rally Championship."
Other Peruvians. The Ferrand team finished in 32nd place in the car category. On the other hand, the only representative in motorcycles, Carlo Vellutino, was positioned in 78th place overall.
