Dionisio Castillo Calvarin won the 'Retomando la Tradicion' 10K athletic race, which took place this Sunday organized by Club San Isidro.

The competition started at 7:30 am from the facilities of Old Club San Isidro, taking Constitution boulevard until reaching the road to San Pedro, which they took towards TSM.

Returning through the restricted pass to enter the facilities of New Club San Isidro, where the first to cross the finish line was the runner originally from Veracruz, who has been residing in the Comarca for a little over a year.

The first kilometers were a close fight for the lead, Castillo was competing with Kenyan Richard Kiptanui, as well as José Antonio García Olvera from Gomez Palacio, they were going back and forth, none wanted to give in.

2,000 pesos in cash were awarded to the first place, 1,500 pesos to the second place, and 1,000 pesos to the third place, in each category of the 10K.

With the straight route, the athletes maintained a good pace, Castillo was being pressured in the first five kilometers, he did not want to even look at his pursuers until he pulled away on the humps of La Union and La Ibero, the Kenyan fell behind a little on the climbs, already in kilometer 6 the dispute was close to determining the winner.

Dionisio entered the finish line alone, he did 31 minutes and 29 seconds, leaving the African in second place, who recorded 32 minutes and 55 seconds, while José Antonio García Olvera took third place with 33 minutes and 14 seconds.

In fourth place was Paul Trejo López with 33:33, in fifth place was Juan Ignacio Martínez Cuevas with 33:49.

Regarding the women's category, the absolute winner was Jessica Ivonne Flores Ramirez, with a time of 39:43, she had a wide margin over second place, which was Monica Elizabeth Veloz Campos with 40:15, and third place went to Maria Reyna Hernandez Escalante from Zacatecas, with a time of 40 minutes and 21 seconds.

For children, there was a special one-kilometer race in the following categories: A (up to 7 years old), B (8-10 years old), C (11-13 years old), and Parent-Accompanying (any age).

2,000 pesos in cash were awarded to the first place, 1,500 pesos to the second place, and 1,000 pesos to the third place, in each category of the 10K, for children there were gifts for the top three places.
