The Lima Half Marathon is the oldest 21k in the world and in 2023 it will celebrate its 114th edition, returning to its original date, close to the commemoration of Santa Rosa de Lima. In 2022, it took place in July, as part of the continuation of the Bicentennial celebrations of Peru.
The race is organized by Peru Runners in conjunction with the Municipality of Lima, and in partnership with Kia and Puma.
Registrations will be available from December 11 of this year. All the information can be found on the official social media pages @perurunners on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
As usual, the Kia Lima Half Marathon Powered by Puma will have its 21K and 10K modalities, and the start will be in the Plaza Mayor of Lima, while the finish will be at the Magical Water Circuit of the Reserve Park.
The route will pass through traditional places in the capital, so all runners can also enjoy Lima's architecture.
The 10K route will go through Jirón de la Unión, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, Paseo de la República, and Avenida Arequipa. The 21K route will additionally pass through Canaval y Moreyra, Carriquiry, Avenida del Parque Norte, and Juan de Arona.
The first edition of the Lima Half Marathon was held in 1909. On that occasion, there were 70 participants who marked a milestone in the runner's history not only in Lima but worldwide. For 2023, more than 12,000 registered runners are expected for both distances.
