SC Braga continues strong in the Portuguese League and this Sunday defeated Arouca, in an away match, with a resounding 6-0. One of the protagonists of the resounding victory was Mexican Diego Lainez, who continues to contribute to the offense and this time stood out with a goal, which served to seal the match.
The diminutive midfielder, who was loaned from Real Betis for the entire 2022-23 season, entered the field at the beginning of the second half, when his team was already winning 0-4. Simon Bokote Banza (1'), Ricardo Horta (4' and 40') and Vitinha (44') had been the architects of the goals up to that point.
Arouca's defense showed evident defensive fragility and coach Artur Jorge expected Diego Lainez to exploit the spaces. After the 0-5 scored by André Castro (67'), the coach's objective was finally achieved, to the delight of the fans present at the Municipal Stadium.
Around the 76th minute, the Mexican was leading the high press and took control of the ball, taking advantage of Moses Yaw's stumble, just a few meters from his own penalty area. The SC Braga's newest signing decided to shoot from the edge of the box, but was easily blocked.
However, Abel Ruiz was benefited by the rebound, on the right, near the goal line, and assisted Lainez with a low cross, who this time did not fail and beat goalkeeper Ignacio De Arruabarrena. In this way, Diego scores his first goal in the Portuguese League and is going through a good phase, since he had registered an assist in the 5-0 victory over Marítimo in the previous match.
How is SC Braga doing in the Portuguese League?
SC Braga has had a spectacular start to the 2022-23 season of the Portuguese League and is currently the sole leader: they have 10 points after four matchdays (they will visit Vitória de Guimarães in the next matchday). The only club that could overtake them is Benfica, who has their match against Paços de Ferreira pending.
