SC Braga continues to make strides in the Portuguese League and this Sunday defeated Arouca, away, with a resounding 6-0 victory. One of the protagonists of the resounding rout was Mexican Diego Lainez, who continues to contribute on offense and this time shone with a goal that sealed the match.
The diminutive midfielder, who was loaned from Real Betis for the entire 2022-23 season, entered the field at the beginning of the second half when his team was already winning 4-0. Simon Bokote Banza (1'), Ricardo Horta (4' and 40'), and Vitinha (44') had been the architects of the goals up until that point.
Arouca's defense showed evident defensive fragility, and coach Artur Jorge wanted Diego Lainez to exploit the spaces. After the 5-0 scored by André Castro (67'), the coach's objective ended up being achieved, to the delight of the fans present at the Municipal Stadium.
Around the 76th minute, the Mexican led the high pressure and took possession of the ball, taking advantage of Moses Yaw stumbling just a few meters from his own penalty area. The SC Braga's new reinforcement decided to shoot from outside the box but was easily blocked.
However, Abel Ruiz was benefited from the rebound on the right side, near the goal line, and provided a low pass to Lainez, who this time did not fail and overcame the resistance of goalkeeper Ignacio De Arruabarrena. In this way, Diego scores his first goal in the Portuguese League and is going through a good period, as he had previously registered an assist in the 5-0 win over Marítimo in the last match.
