1999-2000 Category Debut of Comisión de Actividades Infantiles at Coppa Carnevale
The 1999-2000 category of Comisión de Actividades Infantiles made their debut at Coppa Carnevale in Viareggio, Italy, and lost to Milan 1-0. The team, led by Nicolás Segura, will face UYSS New York from the United States tomorrow, who lost to Pro Vercelli 2-1.
A Tight Match
It was a closely contested match, where Milan showed their best version in the first half and CAI dominated towards the end of the game, coming close to equalizing.
Despite the result, the "Azzurro" had a good start in the tournament. The team from Comodoro Rivadavia pressed the Italian squad and had chances to equalize. Additionally, they showcased their game and at certain moments troubled a powerful and diverse opponent.
In the beginning of the match, both teams had possession of the ball. However, Milan was more dangerous and on four occasions approached the goal defended by Luciano Iturrioz.
Before the end of the first half, the home team scored a goal. A cross into the middle of the box eluded the CAI goalkeeper and Matías Kucich inadvertently scored an own goal.
The goal was felt by the Chubut team, who tried to continue playing their game, sticking to CAI's philosophy: maintaining ball possession and playing on equal terms. But that's how the first half ended.
Second Half and Substitutions
In the second half, Segura made two substitutions: Demian Forner came on for Peinepil and Ariel Vega replaced Perón.
Initially, Milan continued to dominate the game. However, CAI gradually took control of the ball through Brian Orosco, who had great moments in the match.
From the sidelines, the coaching staff continuously encouraged the team, especially when Milan started to lose intensity and CAI took possession.
CAI attacked relentlessly and despite their efforts, they couldn't equalize against the Italian squad, which they had faced over 10 years ago in the Veppe Viola di Citta di Arco Tournament.
Tomorrow, at 11:30 AM Argentina time, CAI will face UYSS New York from the United States, who yesterday lost to Pro Vercelli 2-1, completing Group 8.
CAI Lineup
CAI lined up with Luciano Iturrioz, Fausto Viegas, Matías Kucich, Mauro Peinepil, Tomás Perón, Alejo Daivez, Alexis Aburto, Esteban Knez, Brian Orosco, Ignacio Morales, and Juan Carlos Cárdenas.
In the second half, Ariel Vega and Demian Former came on for Peinepil and Perón, respectively. Santiago Avila and Jairo Vázquez Ampuero replaced Morales and Cárdenas, respectively.
Segura: "Left Us with a Good Feeling"
After the match, coach Nicolás Segura, in an interview with the Press Department, reflected on the game. "It was a tough match with two different stages. First, they dominated the game, they were a solid team but without much possession. We could have had some chances, but we couldn't convert. The first half was mostly dominated by them, with a few goal opportunities. Only after 30 minutes could we start to have more control of the ball," he analyzed.
"And in the second half, the team came out much more determined, they were uncomfortable, we had much more possession, we controlled the game, we pushed them, but we couldn't score. We won it through our attitude, through many aspects, and the match ended with us pressing them. So it left us with a good feeling, because we were playing against Milan, not just any team," he concluded.
