Below are the five reasons why Nicolás Fuchs can have a great 2018 Dakar Rally.

The Dakar 2018 Rally is about to begin and no one can deny that Nicolás Fuchs is one of the most experienced drivers with the best chances of finishing in the top positions. It is known that it is very difficult to reach first or second place due to the million-dollar budgets that other drivers like Stephane Peterhansel and Nasser Al-Attiyah have in comparison, but we trust these five reasons in favor of 'Nico'.

1. Experience: Nicolás Fuchs has been racing professionally since 2004. More than 14 years of experience that make him worth considering in the Dakar 2018. He was champion in 2009 and 2012 in Caminos del Inca and five times national rally champion. He has been competing in the World Rally Championship (WRC) for nine years.

2. Dakar 2017: Last year he competed for the first time in the Dakar Rally. He did so well, finishing in 12th place, that in this Dakar 2018 even better results are expected. Despite being a rookie, Nicolás Fuchs became the best-placed Peruvian in the history of this rally.

3. He is a mechanic: Nicolás Fuchs assures that he knows a lot about mechanics. He knows in detail what happens with every centimeter of his car, so if any problem arises during the race, he will know how to solve it. In this Dakar 2018, problems can arise frequently, in the world of cars you never know.

4. Great team: Just like last year, Nicolás Fuchs is participating in this Rally Dakar with the Wevers Sports Team, a Dutch team specialized in off-road and rally. This team provides excellent assistance, with mechanics and spare parts.

5. It's in Peru: The Dakar 2018 Rally will start in Peru, a place where logically Peruvians know the terrain very well because it is here where they start, compete, and train. Nicolás Fuchs knows the Peruvian dunes and the routes in the south of Peru.
