Best Debut Ever

Best debut ever. Pilot Raúl Orlanini, current champion of Caminos del Inca, debuted with a victory in this year's edition. The 'Mono' won on Saturday in the first stage, between Nasca and Arequipa, with a time of 2h49m12s.

After 475 timed kilometers and four specials, the 'Mono' Orlandini (with his navigator Jhon Navarro) took the victory, surpassing José Luis Tommasini (2h53m47s) and Ronmel Palomino (2h56m55s) in the general classification.

"We are happy and calm with this first stage. A tough day with many kilometers of route, but fortunately everything went well. We have taken care of the car since it is just the beginning, but we were able to impose our pace throughout the day," said Orlandini, who competes in the 4x4 category.

This Sunday, the participants of Caminos del Inca will have a rest day in Arequipa. And on Monday they will resume the second stage towards Puno, which will consist of 189 timed kilometers on dirt roads.

PREVIEW:

The moment every Peruvian driver has been waiting for has arrived. The 46th edition of Caminos del Inca starts today at 7:00 am in Marcona and will end in Arequipa. Drivers will have to travel 568 kilometers in this first stage. The arrival in the White City is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

Undoubtedly, the highlight will be the competition between Nicolás Fuchs and Raúl Orlandini for the Grand Road Championship in the 4x4 category. A duel that will regain its intensity after five years, as 'Nico' and the 'Mono' have not competed together since 2012.

As drivers, both have won two titles in Caminos del Inca, so they will be looking for the tricampeonato. But if we add their achievements as co-drivers, Orlandini has the advantage, as he won it last year as second driver, alongside Jhon Navarro.

While Fuchs is excited to return to Caminos, he knows that the time he has been away has taken its toll. "I seem like a novice because of the nerves, especially after five years away," he said.

On the other hand, Orlandini will try to make the most of the race. "We will take advantage of the competition. Depending on how we feel, we will decide whether to accelerate or maintain the pace," he said.
