Mexican Formula 1 drivers auction replicas of Lego helmets for earthquake victims
Sergio Pérez, Esteban Ocon, and Alfonso Celis (Force India) pilots, along with Marcus Ericsson and Tatiana Calderón (Sauber), participated in the auction of 10 replicas of F1 helmets made out of Legos, to help the earthquake victims in Mexico from last September.
During the Mexican Grand Prix, and in collaboration with INTERprotección, KIO Networks, and UNIFIN, the funds raised from the replicas made by Duncan Titmarsh, the only Lego certified builder in the UK, will be destined for the reconstruction of areas affected by the earthquakes on September 7th and 19th.
"We are very pleased to be able to carry out all these actions on the occasion of celebrating the Mexican Grand Prix. As a company dedicated to the protection of people and their property, we are aware of the seriousness of the damage caused by the earthquakes in September," said the President of the INTERprotección Council, Juan Ignacio Casanueva.
He also stated that there is a lot of work ahead and he feels honored to contribute in some way to the reconstruction of Mexico, in this case through the auction of the colorful helmets.
The funds raised will be allocated to the Fuerza México Trust, created and operated by representatives of business organizations and members of civil society organizations, specialized in transparency and the fight against corruption.
