'Nico' is ready to face a new edition of Caminos del Inca, in his return to the most important race in our country after a long 5 years.

5 years had to go by for Nicolás Fuchs to appear again in our country's most important race. This new edition of Caminos del Inca will have as its main competitor the 12th place winner of Dakar 2017, who will dive into the adrenaline of our country's flagship car racing competition.

INTERVIEW: SILVANA PALACIOS

EL BOCÓN talked to the two-time champion of Caminos del Inca (2009-2012) to find out the expectations he has just hours before the symbolic start and, with it, the beginning of the car race.

Vuelves después de 5... ¿cuáles son las expectativas?

It's been 5 years since I last raced this legendary race in our country. I was focused on the World Championship (WCR2), but now we're here, we're back and we've had a good preparation.

¿Con tu regreso crees que la carrera será más exigente?

No, it's a different type of race, you don't have to push yourself as much, the pace is different, it's not a world championship. It's been 5 years since I had the experience or the logistics that others have had in Caminos del Inca and all that's left is to take it step by step.

¿Por qué decidiste volver a Caminos?

Actually, a couple of years ago we already wanted to race Caminos del Inca again. It didn't happen because of timing and other things. We had the races of the World Championship (WCR2) and this year, with what we achieved in Dakar, we were able to have a little more time and participate.

Servirán como una preparación para el Dakar 2018...

Yes, definitely, Caminos del Inca, with the two laps of the route and the race itself, which are many kilometers, will help us a lot for the next edition of Dakar that will be held here.

¿Tu objetivo es ganarlo?

Definitely, we have to take the return very calmly in order not to make any mistakes during the race. It has been difficult for me and Fer (Fernando Mussano), because there are many kilometers of route notes. We have spent many days training, it has been very tough, but mainly the days of route notes.

¿Qué se viene para ti después de estos Caminos del Inca?

This race will end and we have two months until Dakar, so we have to prepare quickly to face it in the best possible way.
