British Lewis Hamilton won the Canadian Grand Prix for the sixth time in his career and for the third consecutive year. Thus, the Mercedes driver is 12 points behind the leader of the world ranking, Sebastian Vettel.
Valtteri Bottas arrived in second place 19.7 seconds after Hamilton. With this, the Mercedes team took the top two spots on the podium, at a time when it is fighting Ferrari for the title.
Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull took third place for the third consecutive week and celebrated by drinking champagne from the shoe he wore during the race. He even shared a drink with actor Patrick Stewart, who hosted the post-race ceremony.
While Hamilton started from the top spot and was never threatened at the front, Vettel had to climb positions after his car was damaged in the front wing as a result of Max Vestappen cutting off his path at the start. An early pit stop left Vettel behind.

PREVIEW:
Precisely, the British won this circuit last year. Now, he will try to do the same to narrow the gap with Sebastian Vettel, the current world leader, who currently maintains a twenty-five point difference over his rival.
On the other hand, the German number one comes from winning the previous Grand Prix, the one in Monaco. In this race, he will start second, after losing the 'pole' by milliseconds to Hamilton (the British arrived in 1m11s459, while Vettel did it in 1m11s789).
The Canadian GP will also mark the return of Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard from McLaren-Honda will return to the Montreal circuit after a brief stint at the Indianapolis 500. This time, the driver will start in twelfth place.
